And the 2011 Crooms AoIT Alumni Community Scholarship Recipient is...

The recipient of the 5th annual Crooms AoIT Alumni Community Scholarship is Tyler K. This year's winner does not necessarily stand out on paper unless you take the time to understand what he has helped build with Reynolds' Right Hands. But for Reynolds' Right Hands, his involvement is limited to his four year stint in Student Government, some volunteering, and the normal honorary societies. Yet, quantity is not always an indicator of quality: under his leadership, the organization has gained national attention for its advocacy concerning texting while driving following the passing of Ms. Christy Reynolds. Some of its program suggestions have been adopted by Seminole County Public Schools, it was highlighted at the U.S. Department of Transportation's second national Distracted Driving Summit, and has contributions to the health and safety of local residents. Tyler has played a crucial in Reynolds' Right Hands, but the organization has also been instrumental in his life. To paraphrase a certain staff member's comments, "Tyler has really come into his own here at Crooms. Sometimes it takes a big event, however unfortunate it may be, to provide us focus, purpose, and growth."

Congratulations to Tyler and the Class of 2011. We fully appreciate all the effort, participation, and perseverance of those individuals that applied and we wish all of the Class of 2011 the best in your future endeavors. On behalf of all of our Crooms AoIT Alumni supporters and donors, we look forward to hearing about the Class of 2011's future successes. We hope all of you decide to get involved with the Crooms AoIT Alumni Association and continue giving back to your community, your future college, and, of course, Crooms AoIT.
